Awarding funds thanks to players of People's Postcode Lottery

Sistema Scotland

Sistema Scotland, established in 2008, was set up in the belief that children can gain huge social benefits by playing in a symphony orchestra. The charity's Big Noise Orchestras in Raploch, Govanhill, and Torry work with around 1,700 children, ranging from babies through to teenagers, helping them to realise their full potential.

Sistema Scotland aims to use music to foster confidence, teamwork, pride and aspiration in the children taking part, and across their wider community.

Getting involved with Sistema Scotland has a very positive impact on a child's social and personal development, self-esteem, discipline and pride. In particular, children with special educational needs, behaviour issues or unsettled home lives benefit as they communicate with others who have similar interests and in turn experience a sense of belonging. There is a noticeable improvement in their ability to concentrate and focus on a task. A newfound sense of responsibility and positive behaviour is also apparent.
